Serato DJ · beta
Load CueStem cues into Serato
Serato has no library import — it reads cues and grids from inside each music file. So CueStem writes them there for you, without touching the audio or your other tags.
- 1
Scan your tracks with Crate Prep
BPM, key, beatgrid, hot cues and loops are found on your computer. Nothing is uploaded.
- 2
Finish preparation
In Library, complete the free tempo fixes and any chosen AI jobs, or approve partial preparation. Step 2 then unlocks. After refresh, reselect your folder when audio is needed.
- 3
Close Serato DJ
Serato writes to the same tags while it's open, so close it before you continue.
- 4
Press "Write to Serato"
On the library, a crate or a single track. In Chrome or Edge, choose your music folder or USB stick — CueStem finds your prepped tracks by file name and writes the cues into them. In other browsers, choose the files and you'll get tagged copies in a zip to swap in.
- 5
Keep the backup the first time
Tick "Keep a backup" and each original is copied into a "CueStem backup" folder first. Delete it once you're happy.
- 6
Open Serato and load a track
Hot cues (with colours and names), saved loops and the beatgrid show up. The grid is locked so Serato won't move it.
- 7
Re-analyse safely
If you analyse these files in Serato, keep "Set auto BPM" off so the CueStem grid stays.
- 8
Changed something?
After a Grid Fix, a one-tap tempo fix or editing cues, press "Write to Serato" again. Old CueStem tags are replaced, not doubled.
Good to know
- Works with MP3, AIFF, WAV and FLAC. M4A/AAC support is coming later.
- Serato has 8 hot cues — CueStem fills them in order. Serato has no memory cues.
- Tracks with tempo changes get a multi-marker Serato grid.
- Serato support is in beta: try a handful of tracks before your whole library.
- Don't use Serato? Untick it in Account → My setup and the button disappears.
